Nagoya

Nagoya City is known as "the land of sumo wrestlers". That is why this place attracts and intrigues many tourists. Traveling to Nagoya not only sees the bustling city and metropolis but also admires the wonderful ancient beauty of 2000-year-old temples, ancient towns, or beautiful romantic valleys. Let's explore the can't-miss destinations in Nagoya:

Atsuta-jingu Temple

Atsuta Shrine is one of Japan's most important shrine. Atsuta Shrine is a beautiful place in Nagoya, founded about 1,900 years ago. The temple is famous for being home to the legendary Kusanagi-no-tsurugi sword, one of the three sacred royal treasures and an important symbol of Japan. The place also has thousands of artifacts representing traditional culture, such as furniture, mirrors, ancient masks, clothes, and documents. All were donated and displayed by the Japanese people.

Osu Kannon

When traveling to Nagoya, don't forget to visit Osu Kannon, a famous Buddhist temple known for a large wooden statue of Kannon, the goddess of mercy. It was carved by Kobo Daishi, an important figure in Japanese Buddhism. The temple is also home to the Shinpukuji library, which houses a number of Japan's national treasures and important cultural assets.

If you visit Osu Kannon, you may also want to visit the Osu shopping district. Located right next to the temple, it is a series of covered shopping streets with over 400 restaurants and shops, many of which specialize in electronics, anime, and cosplay, and is likened to Tokyo's Akihabara district.

Shirotori Garden

Located less than a kilometer from Atsuta Shrine, Shirotori Garden is another oasis in Nagoya. It is a Japanese landscape garden that covers an area of about four hectares. Like all Japanese gardens, the features of Shirotori Garden are representative of the Japanese landscape in miniature.

Shirotori Garden offers changing scenery depending on the season, with cherry blossoms in spring and yellow and red foliage in fall. Visitors to Shirotori Garden can enjoy "teatime" in a traditional tea room as well as other small events throughout the year, such as bonsai exhibitions in January or Japanese classical music concerts.

Nabana no Sato

If you're traveling to Nagoya between mid-October and early May, you might want to spend the day in Nabana no Sato. Located less than an hour from Kuwana City, this is a botanical garden that has one of the largest light shows in Japan. It has seven installations with more than 8 million LED lights, including two light tunnels, each more than 100 meters long.

Nabana no Sato is part of Nagashima Resort, which is also home to the Nagashima Spa Land theme park, water park, hot spring complex, and shopping mall.

What should we eat when visting Nagoya?

Surely you won't go hungry when you come to a city with a rich culinary background like Nagoya. Below are two dishes you must try when you come here:

Kishimen: This dish is a type of udon noodles that can be eaten hot or cold, depending on preference. A bowl of noodles is made from flour, water, and salt and served with many different side dishes.

How to get there

When should we travel to Nagoya

Nagoya attracts people every season with its beautiful natural scenery. However, the most beautiful time is spring.

Spring here is extremely poetic because this is when cherry blossoms bloom all over the streets. This time also has a pleasant climate and cool weather, making it suitable for walking around the streets or camping to see cherry blossoms and enjoy tea.

Japan is a wonderful country with many vibrant cities. Nagoya is considered a "hidden gem". Nagoya is usually quiet and peaceful, so it seems to go unnoticed by many tourists. This is truly unfortunate. But come and explore this wonderful city; you will definitely not regret it.
